Radical times call for radical IT solutions. π»
The other day, I made a tough but necessary decision: I completely wiped my home server, deleting a media library Iβve been building for the last 10 years. Yes, even sacred classics like "Sleepless in Seattle" got the axe. π
Why? For the sake of pure science and technology testing. I needed to free up space for something truly monumental.
In just 6 hours, I managed to locally download the latest model from Mistral - Le Chaton Fat. And I must say, the results are absolutely stunning. The performance has reached a whole new level. π
However, I immediately ran into a classic "success disaster" and a new architectural dilemma:
The model turned out to be so massive that it took up almost all the available disk space on my server.
The speed and depth of the code generation are phenomenal. The irony? I now literally have nowhere to store this generated code because there is zero space left on the drives. π€¦ββοΈ
When your local AI writes high-quality code faster than you can buy new SSDs to store it - if thatβs not the future, I donβt know what is.
Folks, who else has had a chance to test the latest Mistral models in a local environment? How do you handle the massive "appetite" of these model weights?
