What if the interface to Germany's transport data was…
What if the interface to Germany's transport data was simply a conversation? That's ViaFrei: a Germany-wide mobility intelligence layer whose UI is the AI assistant you already use. Germany publishes huge amounts of open mobility data: rail departures and delays, Autobahn traffic, roadworks, fuel prices, EV charging, parking, shared bikes and weather warnings. The data exists! The problem is that it's spread across dozens of portals, formats and licences. ViaFrei brings it together and exposes it to Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants through 21 MCP tools. Ask in German or English (other languages are coming) and get an answer with sources. Real answers from today: 🚗 "Any jams in Berlin?" → Current incidents, queue lengths and delays. Coverage is expanding to new cities every week. 🅿️ "Parking near Hannover Hbf?" → Nearby parking options and truck parking availability. ⚡ "Where can I fast-charge near Frankfurt?" → Real-time EV charging availability, power output (kW), plug types and operator info. ⛽ "Cheapest E10 in Köln?" → Ranked by price, distance and freshness. 🚆 "What's happening at my station?" → Departures, delays, disruptions and accessibility information. No app. No portal hopping. Just ask your AI assistant. Built by one developer and a team of AI agents. I develop with Claude Code and act as product owner. Specialised agents own database architecture, data ingestion, MCP tools, licence stewardship, evaluation, DevOps, release management and independent review. The rules are simple: ✅ Nothing merges without review. ✅ Tool descriptions are continuously evaluated against real-world questions. ✅ Every dataset passes licence and attribution checks before release. ✅ Small releases, strict gates and automated smoke tests. The agents do the volume. The tests catch what humans forget. I make the decisions. 🧪 Open Beta: Help me break it. Don't ask easy questions. Ask the awkward ones. Challenge the data. Compare answers with reality. Ask about your local station, your daily commute, your nearest charger, traffic hotspots, parking availability or fuel prices. If ViaFrei gives a wrong answer, I want to know. If it gives a surprisingly good answer, I want to know that too. ⚡ Try it right now with Claude Code: claude mcp add viafrei http https://mcp.viafrei.de/mcp Every bug report improves the system.
