Whiteboard architecture vs. production reality - the eternal battle 📐🔥
Every project starts beautifully:
Miro diagrams look like art, microservices behave like angels, and the architecture feels ready for a Netflix documentary. Then you deploy- and the universe says “cute”. On paper: “Our system is infinitely scalable.”
In reality: bandwidth is not infinite, hardware budgets are not infinite, legacy systems are VERY infinite. Academia teaches us how to design perfect systems.
Production teaches us how to survive imperfect constraints. Real architecture isn’t about drawing boxes- it’s about making sure those boxes don’t collapse when they meet real hardware, real budgets, and real deadlines.
Just like that famous “College of Architecture” building that ran out of wall space for the first letter of its own name...😏
What was the constraint that destroyed your perfect design at the last moment? 👇
